"7:15 am, Sheriff Carter. Good morning. Zoe is already awake and dressed."

Sheriff Jack Carter has never explicitly programmed SARAH to perform certain tasks for him as a routine in the morning, but SARAH adapts on her own --

"Your cereal and coffee is waiting for you in the kitchen."

"No, it's not. I just went to bed."

No head (or any other body part for that matter) has appeared out from under the king-sized striped comforter.

"You know I was studying all night for that stupid test." Bitter.

"I told you the best study practice is a good night's sleep...Jack."

That has been a hard thing to revert to, but Sheriff Carter told him to when he didn't have business going on in the house.

A 'Get out of bed, Dad! I'm gonna be late!' is heard from downstairs in the kitchen, and SARAH adds, "At least the shower is available."

"True," and with a grunt, Jack sits up out of bed and tries as best he can to mat down his rebellious hair before letting the shower do that for him.

When he re-emerges in his day-to-day uniform -- khaki pants and shirt, black belt and boots -- Jack heads downstairs and smiles cheerfully at his more and more irritated daughter Zoe who, according to her pronouncement last night, had 'places to be' this morning.

"...So," Jack starts questioningly, heading toward his cereal. "What are you...up to, today, SARAH?"

Zoe sulks on the couch.

"There's laundry and dishes, but I thought I would record the Indiana game for later."

SARAH's helpful like that.

"I'll be looking out for you, for your examination at work today, Sheriff."

Zoe totally counts as business.

Jack perks up some at the mention of the baseball game, but does his best to ignore the possibly creepy interpretation of 'looking out' for him.

"I appreciate the support." Pouring coffee into a travel mug and his cereal dry into a plastic bag for later, the sheriff of Eureka pulls on his (regulation) black leather bomber jacket and ushers Zoe up from the couch and toward the door.

"Jack! You left your PDA on the coffee table in the living room."

A focused spotlight from a ceiling tile highlights the impossibly small -- no bigger than a pad of Post-Its -- standard issue (for Eureka citizens) PDA on the white coffee table.

At Jack's hesitation, "I know you still use your old cell phone instead of this one, but it is the most convienient method of communication with me if you need something."

Or if you're going to be late for dinner.

"...Thanks."

Crazy house remembers everything. I'm going to get myself locked out again, I can feel it.

Jack picks it up from the table, tucking it in his pants pocket before Zoe finally gives in and tugs on her father's arm to get out of the house already so that she's not later than she already is for her 'burgeoning social life'.

"'Bye, SARAH." Door seals shut.

A wall panel morphs from it's habitual shade of blue to a view from the external cameras: the sheriff and Zoe piling into Jack's jeep, heading east toward the center of town.

Once the jeep pulls out of view of SARAH's external cameras, circuits in a specific sequence turn over and the outside view changes again to a road map of Eureka, and a tiny blue dot labelled:

J. Carter - Resident
Z. Carter - Resident

SARAH hasn't turned on the audio and video feeds yet. She just wants to make sure Jack's exam goes favorably.

As much as she can.

She's only the house, after all.
