Fargo arrived right on time -- 8 am on the dot, according to SARAH's internal clock, despite the hours spent at Milliways.
She couldn't tell him. He'd think she was malfunctioning.
"Doctor Fargo?"
"Yes, S.A.R.A.H?" replies the young scientist, furiously typing at a laptop, watching code scroll before his eyes with his feet propped up across a sofa cushion.
"Have you been able to bring my external sensors online?"
"Oh! Yes -- I hadn't run a test yet. You can go ahead now. I'm going to grab a soda."
Fargo walks into the kitchen, arriving just in time to watch the refrigerator spin outward and the door open automatically so that the young man can pick up his hourly caffeine dose. All the while, S.A.R.A.H.'s test of the external sensor array (audio, visual, topographic, seismic, meteorological) checks out. Everything is Eureka.
No bar in sight, let alone the end of the universe.
"Diagnostic complete, Doctor Fargo."
"Good -- find anything where it didn't belong?"
"No, Doctor Fargo."
